The Command Room - used by the R.A.F. Group 1 Bomber Command as their Operations Room from 1941 until as recently as the Falklands War - was refurbished during 2005 and has the capacity to hold 200 people.
Bawtry Hall Command Room in use during recent Heritage Open Day lecture Bawtry Hall served the Royal Air Force from 1941 - 1984; first as HQ for No. 1 Group, Bomber command during and after WWII, then as Strike Command HQ up to and including the later stages of the Cold War. The famous bombing of the airfield at Port Stanley by Vulcan bombers from RAF Finningley during the Falklands conflict was co-ordinated from the room now serving more peaceful purposes as our largest conference room, known as 'The Command Room'.
The room has been decorated in a style reminiscent of the wartime period and seats 200 conferees in a variety of seating formats. The room is air-conditioned and a variety of audio-visual aids are available. |
